Research

The Research Cell formulates the basic policy on malpractice and plagiarism which is applicable to all students enrolled at the college and all the faculty appointed and undertaking research in the Institution. The Institution creates an awareness among the students and faculty members who are involved in research, on malpractice and plagiarism. The final year students of Business Administration and Social Work are instructed to use the following online open source softwares to check duplication of the research work.

Code of Ethics For Malpractice and Plagiarism in Research:

Plagiarism

Plagiarism, cheating and collusion and attempting to obtain an unfair academic advantage are entirely acceptable and not allowed. These forms of academic misconduct will be subject to disciplinary regulations.

Collusion

Collusion is an agreement between people to act together secretly or illegally in order to deceive or cheat someone.

Fabrication

Fabrication is making up data or results and recording or reporting them

Malpractice

A dereliction of professional duty or a failure to exercise an ordinary degree of professional skill or learning by one (such as physician) rendering professional services which results in injury, loss or damage.

College Academic Misconduct Policy

Prevention of Academic Misconduct – Staff

  • Informing students of the policy on academic malpractice
  • Displaying and informing guidelines on the format of formal acknowledgment of material
  • Advising the use of plagiarism software used and informing them on the availability of the free software.
  • Procedures for assessing work

Plagiarism can be the following

  • To steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one’s own.
  • To use (another’s production) without crediting the source
  • To commit literary theft
  • To present an idea or product as new and original derived from an existing source.

Unacceptable misconduct – Students:

  • Taking someone’s work, images or ideas and forwarding or using for self.
  • Acting unfairly or dishonestly to gain as advantage
  • Collusion – working with others to deceive or cheat.
  • Accessing fellow students / staff work and forwarding to others or using for self.

Types of Ethical Violation

Conflict of Interest:

Any action that may result in a conflict of interest must be fully disclosed. When objectivity and effectiveness cannot be maintained, the activity should be avoided or discontinued.

Disputes about authorship:

Proper authorship representation is generally a matter for the involved parties to resolve.

Duplicate Submission:

Duplicate submission abuses the resources of all affected journals, including the valuable time of editors, reviewers and staff and is unprofessional and unacceptable

Fabrication or misrepresentation of data or results:

Any incidence of fabrication or misrepresentation to be an extremely serious breach of professional conduct, with potentially severe ethical and legal consequences.
