Nazareth College of Arts and science believes in training the students of both genders to reach greater heights in realizing the vision in building responsible citizens and leaders through sports. The college has excelled in promoting sports for the community in Avadi. Nazareth College supports in providing its sporting facilities for all district level sports and games competitions held by the District Sport Authorities and private sports associations to anchor their sports events every year. The management promotes sports culture inside the campus which enable our students to win laurels at the State, National, and International level. The institution has adequate facilities for sports and cultural activities. Special coaches for individual games are invited to train the students. Besides university tournaments, the students are encouraged to take part in district, state and national level tournaments.
Nazareth instills in its student’s healthy competitiveness combined with academic success through its Nazareth Sports Excellence Programmes(NSEP). The NSEP is a flagship initiative of Nazareth College of Arts and Science which currently support over 100 students who are studying across 8 disciplines. The programme provides free accommodation and food, travel, sporting equipments and fee concessions to students enrolled to college through sports. Nazareth College provides top trainers to coach the students, who follow a regular time table and also personalised training for them. A mini gym is attached with NSEP to enable the students to gain strength and flexibility required for their sports and games. The students represent the college and university at regional, district, state, national and international sports events. Since its inception, the sports students have consistently achieved success and brought laurels to the college and university. Every year our students find a place in the University of Madras team and representing them and Nazareth. The college believes in encouraging students to engage in sports thereby contributing to the National Development. There are about 20 students who have secured jobs in state/central govt jobs due to sports quota since last 5 years.
